VR Wall Box London: Royal Mail Museum (Trial) - Out of use

This box was made by Smith & Hawkes of Birmingham and is a rare example of the first wall boxes made in 1857 and is known as an 1857 Trial Box.  

It is out of use and mounted high up on a wall with four other Victorian boxes at the London Royal Mail museum. It is the one in the middle of the group picture below.
