This box was made by WT Allen of London and is one of the small size versions of the 1881-1901 range of wall boxes which was the last range of wall boxes made in the Victorian era. This particular style of the small size box in the range was made between 1886 and 1901 and has a modified aperture. During the 1950s and 1960s some boxes had their aperture modified to take larger letters and the hood on these apertures didn't have the words 'POST OFFICE' cast on them.
It is box number TR9 36 and can be found just north of the green in the hamlet of Tregonetha near St Colomb in Cornwall, UK.
It was spotted by Peter Williams on 7 March 2022.
