This box was made by Smith & Hawkes in Birmingham and was known as the Improved Box No. 2. These were one of the earliest boxes, being made in 1860 and 1861. This one still has its letter flap which is quite unusual.
It is box number KW10 61 and can be found on the wall of the Golspie Inn at the northern end of Golspie, Sutherland, Scotland.
