VR Wall Box Burton on Trent: Rough Hayes - DE13 Out of use

This box was made by WT Allen of London and is one of the small size versions of the 1881-1901 range of wall boxes which was the last range of wall boxes made in the Victorian era.  This particular style of the small size box in the range was made between 1886 and 1901 and has a modified aperture.  During the 1950s and 1960s some boxes had their aperture modified to take larger letters and the hood on these apertures didn't have the words 'POST OFFICE' cast on them.

It is now out of use but was box number DE13 1027 and can be found on the Acorn pub in Rough Hayes near Burton on Trent, Staffordshire, UK.

It was spotted by Les Heath on 14 March 2023.
