This box was made by Cochrane & Co of Dudley and this style was made from 1873-1878 and is of large diameter with a low aperture. This type of box is known as a Penfold after the designer JW Penfold whose design was chosen for the first standardised national pillar box that was introduced in 1866.
It is box number SY1 13 and can be found in The Square in the centre of Shrewsbury in Shropshire, UK.
It was spotted by Les Heath on 12 May 2022.
