This box was made by Cochrane & Co of Dudley and this style was made from 1873-1878 and is of large diameter with a low aperture.  This type of box is known as a Penfold after the designer JW Penfold whose design was chosen for the first standardised national pillar box that was introduced in 1866.

It is now out of use and can be found on the High Street in Hampstead, London.

It was spotted by Neil on 21 February 2019.
