This box was made by WT Allen of London and is one of the small size versions of the 1881-1901 range of wall boxes which was the last range of wall boxes made in the Victorian era. This particular style of the small size box in the range was made between 1882 and 1885.
It is an out of use box on a private house in the village of Upton Grey near Basingstoke, Hampshire. It used to be sited outside the church and then was bought by the Post Box museum on the Isle of Wight when it was made redundant. The current owner bought it from the museum to site it back in its original village. It has an older style collection plate from the days when it was sited outside the church.
Coincidentally the house was the village post office and the bricked-up hole of the post box can just be made out in the last picture. The post office was moved around the village over the years.
It was spotted by Neil on 21 February 2020.
