This box was made by WT Allen of London and is one of the small size versions of the 1881-1901 range of wall boxes which was the last range of wall boxes made in the Victorian era. This particular style of the small size box in the range was made between 1886 and 1901 and has a modified aperture. During the 1950s and 1960s some boxes had their aperture modified to take larger letters and the hood on these apertures didn't have the words 'POST OFFICE' cast on them.
It is box number B95 235 and I found it in Edstone part way up Newnham Lane which is off Salters Lane near the Edstone aqueduct on the Stratford canal near Henley-in-Arden in Warwickshire. Apparently it has since been stolen.
It was spotted by Neil on 31 March 2017.
